Vigo County Circuit Superior Courts
The resolved primary trial-court name for this project is Circuit Court / Superior Court. Vigo County has Vigo Circuit Court and six Vigo Superior Court divisions, plus local limited-jurisdiction court work through Terre Haute City Court. The public case system uses Indiana Odyssey and MyCase identifiers: 84C01 for Vigo Circuit Court, 84D01 through 84D06 for Vigo Superior Court divisions, and 84H01 for Vigo/Terre Haute City Court. These identifiers are more useful than the page filename because the public case system follows Indiana court structure.
The Indiana Judicial Branch Vigo County page identifies Vigo County as part of Judicial District 19 with Clay, Putnam, Sullivan, and Vigo Counties. The same state court page links local rules, MyCase, e-filing, court statistics, and local court resources. Indiana court labels can be confusing because Vigo County records include Circuit Court, Superior Court, City Court, and separate federal courts. The county does not have a county District Court for ordinary local trial matters. The comparison below keeps the local court channels distinct so a searcher does not send a city traffic case to the wrong court or look for a federal prisoner case in Indiana MyCase.

Vigo County Court Divisions
Vigo Superior Court Division I lists felony and daily criminal work, along with family and civil matters. Division II is primarily civil and lists family law, collections, contracts, probate estate, and guardianship matters. Division III is paired with Vigo Circuit Court in the research and lists felony work, family law, civil, adoptions, and probate. Division IV includes small claims, ordinance violations, foreclosures, torts, misdemeanors, and Level 5 or Level 6 felonies.
Division V and Division VI also list felony calendars and civil mornings. Probate Division focuses on guardianships, estates, and trusts. Title IV-D Court handles paternity and child-support establishment, enforcement, and modification. Veterans Treatment Court is a specialty program tied to court-involved veterans whose justice involvement connects with substance dependency or mental illness. The county court structure is broad, so the court name alone rarely tells the full record path.

Judicial District 19
Vigo County is part of Indiana Judicial District 19 with Clay, Putnam, Sullivan, and Vigo Counties. District membership is useful when looking at state court administration, e-filing, local rules, and court statistics. It does not mean that Vigo County has a separate local District Court. The local trial-court work remains in the Circuit Court, Superior Court divisions, and limited city or town courts where established by Indiana law.
The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana is a separate federal court serving Vigo County for federal matters.
Federal district court records are not Vigo County Circuit or Superior Court records, and they are not searched through Indiana MyCase.

That courthouse is relevant for federal Southern District proceedings in Terre Haute, not for county probate, divorce, felony, or civil trial-court records.
City Court and Federal Limits
Terre Haute City Court is the lower local court identified in the research map. It handles city infractions, ordinances, and local court matters. City court information can appear in MyCase under 84H01, but Terre Haute notes that online city court case information begins with cases filed August 29, 2011, with only a small amount of older material online. Older city cases may require City Clerk contact.
Federal bankruptcy is also separate from the county trial-court system. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Indiana serves Vigo County, but its Terre Haute bankruptcy page says the Terre Haute courthouse is not staffed regularly by bankruptcy court personnel and documents should not be mailed or delivered there.
Bankruptcy records should be routed through federal bankruptcy court channels, not the Clerk of the Vigo Circuit Court.

That local note is a useful warning because a Terre Haute federal courthouse address does not mean every federal office accepts documents there.
Vigo County Court Access Notes
Public court access has several channels. County trial court cases use MyCase and the Clerk of the Vigo Circuit Court. City Court cases use MyCase where available and City Court or City Clerk contact for older or local matters. Federal cases use PACER and federal court clerks. Jail communications and inmate services are separate from court records, even when an inmate has a court date or case number.
